MACHU PICCHU, A PLACE OF GREAT STORIES

Recently, a couple chose Machu Picchu as their honeymoon destination and the CuscoPeru.com team was responsible for making everything perfect. At first, our passengers had many doubts, since it was the first time they had visited this marvelous citadel; Doubts such as the entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, the Ollantaytambo train schedule and many other details that, like every traveler at some point in their journey, they need to know. Doubts were resolved quickly and the trip was a dream for them.

A nice family, made up of Dad, Mom plus 03 children aged 10 -13 -15 years, came to know Machu Picchu a family dream, which we knew how to complement in previous days with other activities such as horseback riding in Cusco, Ausangate Bicycle Trip and Montaña de Colores as well as other activities that made all the members of the family completely happy.

We recently received a very famous speaker who arrived on the first flight to Cusco and had to return on the last flight. The experience was fantastic for him and an important challenge for us. We had to accommodate the schedules in the safest way so that you arrive on time for your return flight.

There are 9 entrance times to Machu Picchu, which you can choose depending on the time you arrive in Aguas Calientes. Next, we detail the Hours

The entrances at 6, 7, 8 and 9 in the morning it is necessary to leave the city of Cusco very early, keep in mind that the trip is long of almost 2 hours by car and another 2 hours by train.
Also, if you don’t like waking up very early, you can travel a day earlier and stay in Aguas Calientes, and avoid getting up very early. Take into account the travel time of 4 hours between the bus trip and the train trip. At these times, the sunset is diagonally with respect to the sanctuary, offering us a different panorama compared to other times, it is possible that some rainbows form due to the mist.

The hours of 10, 11, 12 and 1 are likely to be more crowded, if you were planning to take the classic photo without people around, it will cost you a little more. The sun will be at the top giving direct light to the sanctuary with great intensity. It also has its charm because the sky will be clear and you will be able to better observe Machu Picchu.

In the afternoon, 1 and 2 in the afternoon, some consider that it is the best time to visit Machu Picchu due to the fall of the sun between the mountains, covering the citadel of Machu Picchu with its last rays. Perfect panorama for photography, the weather is cooler and you will not feel very hot compared to entering in the morning. You can travel the same day, there is no need to be in Aguas Calientes a day before, but remember that you will also arrive in Cusco a little late between 10 and 11 at night.

It is possible to visit Machu Picchu all year round, the month of April and the end of March is considered by many to be the best month to visit Machu Picchu, due to the good weather. April is the month in which the rains culminate, the landscapes are green and the sky is clear, giving us a sense of peace.

The months of May, June, July and August are also perfect for you to travel to Machu Picchu, although it is a bit cold, there will be no problem as long as you wear a good coat (The cold is felt more in the afternoon) Usually the sun is radiant in the mornings and in the afternoons from 5 p.m. there is a little wind.

September, October, November and December the rains begin again , the landscapes gradually turn green and the cold is less intense. Although on some days the rains could surprise you, however, the tours are given normally, Machu Picchu has a different panorama, the mist that covers the sanctuary gives it a touch of mystery as it dissipates into the air. It is possible that while you are touring Machu Picchu, and it is very cloudy at some point it will rain, you can continue enjoying your tour with a poncho or waterproof coat.
We have many visitors who like to visit Machu Picchu in the rain more than on a good sunny day, for the very reason that it is a different look at this wonder of the modern world. If you do not like the rain, it is more likely that it will be clear after 11 am, so your chance of finding Machu Picchu clear will be greater.

In the months of January, February and March, the rains are more frequent. In the tourism sector it is considered that it is low season, which has a great advantage, if you are thinking of traveling during those months, as there will be less influx of people. On the other hand, the advantage is that the landscapes are green and the weather is cooler compared to other seasons.
If you have already decided to travel this season, we advise you to buy your tickets to Machu Picchu for the times starting at 11 am, so you will have a better chance that Machu Picchu is clear. The average rainfall per week varies from 3 to 4 days of rain, additionally some days the rain can be light but with a duration of the whole day and others the duration of rain can be only a few hours but with stronger intensity. Machu Picchu in the early hours of the morning is usually cloudy in these months.

Remember that we are in the Andes and here the weather is very unpredictable, however the information we provide tries to get as close as possible to the weather in each season. We look forward to your visit CuscoPeru.com will have everything organized for you, we have passengers who are very happy with the experiences and this is all year long.

Although you can book your ticket to Machu Picchu a day before, it is best to make the reservation at least one or two months before your visit . Income is limited and it is advisable to book in advance. In the event that you want to visit Huayna Picchu, consider your reservation time 4 months before your visit.

These recommendations are important so that your experience in Machu Picchu is the best, given that the most popular tickets such as the circuit 1-2 Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu sell out too quickly.

The solution for those travelers who could not book in advance, is to buy tickets with alternative income circuit 4 or 3 where you will see Machu Picchu but you will not get to have the classic photo, you will be able to see the temples and see Machu Picchu from the lower part.
There are some dates of the year in which you will not be able to get a last-minute ticket or alternative tickets due to demand, and some dates you will not find alternative tickets, so if you could not book in time, you will be disappointed.

It can be cumbersome for you to book your ticket, so our recommendation would be to anticipate with a good margin of time or contact a safe agency to guarantee your visit to Machu Picchu.

The most recommended way to prevent altitude sickness is progressive adaptation, that is, ascend moderately to adapt to the decrease in oxygen as you gain altitude. We recommend spending at least one day in Cusco without extreme physical effort to adapt to the altitude.

Taking care of the diet is also important, eating light foods that are easy to digest will help in the acclimatization process.

Be hydrated, at least drink 4 to 5 liters of water while you are in Cusco. Sleep at least 8 hours a day before your tours, keep your body rested without much physical effort. As a natural remedy, you can drink coca tea or chew it during your stay. The coca leaf will help you oxygenate at altitude more efficiently.
